This post (although a little delayed) is having me soso excited! I am a girl’s girl – to the core. I just think there are few things more important – or fun – than some quality time with your girlfriends. In high school and again in college I’ve just always surrounded myself with groups of 8 or 9 best gals and the time we share together just laughing and swapping stories is always truly important to me.
That’s just one of the many reasons why I love to host girls’ nights in! I mean, after all, we waste so much money on rent every month, but then we never really just chill at home, ya know? So, this week (in honor of the Bachelorette finale) I decided to host the evening at mi casa so that us chicas can just kick back and relax, spending some QT on the couch.
So in order to have a successful event you need to pick up a few necessary items.
First thing’s first: the wine. My bestie Monica and I try to each bring a bottle whenever we get together so we can try something new. PRO TIP: we usually make a trip to Trader Joe’s or BevMo when they have BOGO for 5 cents! You can get some pretty tasty vino without spending too much. I promise you there’s actually a decent variety at a very reasonable cost! Typically we are a rosé and red kinda chicks, but every once in a while when we feel like celebrating we pop a little bubbly.
Knowing we have that in fridge getting chilled, I like to get comfy right away. That means yoga pants, big sweatshirt and some fuzzy socks or slippers. In terms of the living room, I make sure there are plenty of blankets and pillows for getting cozy! Don’t forget to light some candles either! It makes the room smell delish and adds that extra sense of homeyness to the room.
Next, the snacks. I always think it’s nice to have a spread, to make the evening feel a little fancy or special. My favorites are brie cheese, assorted grapes, veggies, hummus, crackers – and of course, SkinnyPop for my roomie Maggie (even though she ends up dropping half of it on the floor). Once we find enough room, dessert consists of 4 spoons and some Halo Top – don’t judge.
The entertainment you ask? We keep the DVR rolling so we can fast forward through the commercials and in the mean time we get caught up with the latest from one another. Whether it’s someone’s most recent Coffee Meets Bagel date, work event, or latest vacation – we always have so much to talk about. So our first hour is typically just going around the circle and sharing the latest in each other’s lives. After everyone is up to speed – it’s time for the show!
What do you and your girls like to do for fun? Do you enjoy your TV shows as much as we do or are you more likely to paint the town? I love new ideas so let me know in the comments below!!
