Listen I know it’s ironic that the single one here is giving dating advice, but hey – why the heck not. Here’s a few ideas for you + your honey on Feb 14 <3
#1 – Go to a cooking class. If that’s too cliché for you, try any class. Yoga, spin, improv, etc. The point here is to do something where you have to work together as a team. After all, that’s what this day is all about – celebrating your teammate in life.
#2 – Write one another a love note with 28 things (1 for each day in February) that you love about the other person. Some can be silly, but be sure to keep the others sentimental. You don’t have to necessarily do something fancy to show how much you appreciate your S/O.
#3 – This one is kinda risky but I’m also really into it – PLAY HOOKY. Saint V-Day falls on a Tuesday this year, and I fully encourage you to call out “sick” – maybe love sick? – with your beau and spend the day on an adventure! Go to brunch (this will be so much easier than trying to get a dinner reservation), explore the city, do a photo shoot in the park, the list could go on forever. Just spend the day being the two crazy kids in love that you are.
#4 – FaceTime your parents/grandparents and ask them to tell you all about how they first started dating and falling for each other. Nothing’s sweeter than listening to a good, old-fashion love story; and it’s even better when it has a deeper meaning to you, because it’s one from people you truly care about. This will definitely give you all the Valentine’s feels.
#5 – Spice up the romance. There – I said it. This probably shouldn’t be something that you save for one day of the year but it can be something that you make an extra effort for when the time comes. Forget about finances, or how he didn’t put his dish in the dishwasher, just reconnect with your boo. Light some candles, trade back-rubs and run a bath with two glasses of vino.
We’ll let you babes have your alone time now.
