If you haven’t gotten the hint – we are SO in the holiday spirit. We’re basically elves. What’s not to love about Christmas? The lights and decorations, the caroling, the cheerfulness – it’s magical! Once you’ve got the shopping thing out of the way (don’t worry we’ll be giving you Last Minute Larry’s some advice later this week) it’s the time to slow things down and really appreciate what is important; like family, friends and our health.
I was in Massachusetts for Thanksgiving just one short month ago and it was a whirlwind! After cooking up a storm for turkey day, a wedding to attend, and trying to see as many people as I could, I barely had a minute to myself to take it all in. That’s why I’m looking forward to this opportunity of going home again so I can enjoy just BEING back on the East Coast. Plus, I almost feel like I need to see some snow to get the full Christmas effect. Only 10 days to go, but who’s counting? 0:)
All this in mind, my outfit inspo today comes from the one thing I miss most when I am gone – my pup. Her name is Honey-Dew, she’s a 13 year old Toy American Eskimo and she is perfect. My sister and I always wanted a dog growing up and when we were about 12/13 we finally somehow convinced my parents that we were ready for one. I promise you we did not deserve her. She’s the sweetest, most well-behaved angel you could ever imagine. That line about “whoever said diamonds are a girls’ best friend never had a dog” could not be more true. She knows when I’m upset or just need a good cuddle and because of that, she’s the only one I’ll ever let be little spoon.
She always stays at the bottom of my feet when I am cooking in the kitchen, just hoping for a scrap to fall. When no one is looking I might just give her a tiny bit of cookie-dough while we’re making my mom’s sugar cookies this year! They are to die for. I should probably take stock in lint rollers since her fur sheds like none other, but it’s completely worth it. I can’t wait to dress her up in her Xmas bandannas and Reindeer ears. If you could only see her I swear you’d melt!! I will definitely try to Snap and Instagram some cute shots for those of you who follow along.
This Calvin Klein vest I have on is soft to the touch, it feels just like Honey. I like how it drapes and is a bit over-sized. The fur has an elegance to it but the shape also makes it super comfortable. I just paired it with a cream, wrap body suit from F21 and a pair of my go-to high-waisted skinnies. It’s classic but with a playful twist. The look is great for December SoCal nights when things get a little chilly and you need an extra layer for warmth.
What says “Christmas” to you guys? Is there a tradition you can’t live without during the holidays? We’re dying to know so drop a line in the comments!
Merry Merry to you and yours xo
