We’ve recently had quite a few friends ask us where the best place to brunch in Boston was. Typically this is an extremely difficult question. But it had us thinking – what is the one spot we HAVE to make sure we hit up while we’re back in town? Then our decision got much easier: Loco Taqueria & Oyster Bar in Southie. You already know LTOB encompasses all our favorite things – delicious Mexican food, a fresh oyster selection and lots + lots of tequila (or if you’re me it’s better known as tekill-ya). We also totally love them for their playful sense of humor. You can almost always count on some witty saying or slogan on their signage out front. What you don’t know, ladies and gents, is that this wonderful establishment still has more to offer, and that is a damn good brunch.
You’ve got your usual suspects – biscuits and gravy, a nice benny, fried egg BLT, etc. Then, you’ve got the items to honor that Mexican flare like breakfast tacos and huevos con carne. What’s super cool is that there are also soooo many gluten free items which means you really don’t have to sacrifice or compromise #hollaatyourgirl. It’s no bueno when you go to a restaurant and you immediately have your options drastically limited for something that’s beyond your control. I promise you it won’t feel that way here.
Since it’s the holiday season and we’ve got baby Jesus working his magic, Loco is gracing us with the gift that is new brunch items. One thing is for sure, there is no lack of creativity. Everything is seasoned and spiced to perfection! Whether you’re looking for something sweet or savory they’re hooking you up. There’s enough crowd-pleasers to impress even the toughest critics. Check some of our faves out below!
Avocado Toast, Chicken & Waffles, PB&J French Toast and more*!
Do you see what we’re saying? Now please, don’t just take our word for it. You have to make your way over and let us know what you think! We promise a yummy meal and an amazing atmosphere. Don’t hesitate to tell them that you’re friends of BALM 🙂
*If you’re looking for something to wash these good eats down with then you’ve got to try the Brewed Awakening: vanilla vodka, Rumchata, Kahlua, and cinnamon-nutmeg cold brew). Since I am not a huge chocolate fan, anything cinnamon or vanilla is my jam so this is right up my alley! Best of all, they’re only $11 a pop. However, I am of course already partial to “The Britney” margarita. Does it even matter what’s in it with a name like that?
If you’ve already checked out Loco recently and you need a few more recommendations, here is what we suggest:
Committee – buckets. of. mimosas. need we say more?
The Beehive – ideal for a more sophisticated sunday funday. eat your meal with some classic jazz to match the tune your tastebuds are dancing to.
Area Four – how does a warm, sticky cinnamon bun and a brunch flight sound? yeah that’s what we thought.
