There are actors and movie sets, stages and singers, countless dancers and performers – LA’s hustle is on point. You’re never short of entertainment in this city. But beyond the hype, when you actually slow things down and take it all in, there’s something so much more that it has to offer, yet doesn’t get talked about nearly as much. That my friends, is the views. Whether you’re a tourist on a quick vaca or a local born & raised, the sights to see here are pretty unbelievable. Maybe you’re looking for a good place to get your exercise in or maybe it’s time to get a little romantic with your honey – whatever it may be, you’re not going to be disappointed with the landscape. Some spots require a little bit more work to get to than others but if you are up for the challenge, it’s sure to be worth it! Here are some of my favorite places to go when I need some alone time with mother nature.
#1 Fryman Canyon
Since I live and work in the Valley this is definitely “my” trail. I come here almost every day after work since it’s on my way home and doesn’t take more than 45 minutes to complete. It’s perfect when you just need to spend a part of your day outdoors and get a quick workout! It is super easy to find and there’s a free parking lot (!!!!!) which is major. It does tend to be a popular place, but it never feels crowded on the trail. Watch out for bikers and keep your eyes peeled while walking through the residential area – you just might see something familiar 😉 (coughKardashianfansIamtalkingtoyoucough)
#2 Runyon Canyon Park
Okay, I have to be honest with you guys I actually haven’t been here yet since it was closed for construction for a while but I have been DYING to make my way over. I love the idea of having multiple entrances because that means you are able to customize your workout a bit. You can control if you prefer a warm-up versus a cool down by choosing to go downhill first or saving it until the end. The park is very well known and celebs have definitely been known to frequent from time to time, so don’t be surprised if you catch your favorite A-lister on their morning jog!
#3 Hollywood Sign/Wisdom Tree/Griffith Park
I know what you’re thinking, but I swear to you this route isn’t just for tourists! Actually, you really should dedicate a chunk of your morning or afternoon for this because it won’t be a breeze! DEFINITELY don’t plan on wearing your brand-new, white sneaks – it’s a dirt trail and things a bound to get a little messy. You’ll go through minimal climbing and you’ll have to make some gut decisions on what path to take, but once you finally make your way to the top it’s seriously breathtaking. You can see the entire city! A word of advice, stop for a minute, take it all in and find your zen. Not everyone gets this chance so be sure to soak it up. For the sunset lovers out there – check out the horseback tours which you can ride all the way to the top!
