We would like to take this time to sincerely apologize to you all. We realize, we have done you a major injustice. BALM is officially way over the one year mark, and we have yet to write you guys a post about brunch. Can you forgive us? Well, hopefully you’ll find it in your hearts, because we’ve got everything you need to know to consider yourself a brunch champ.
We aren’t the first to tell you, and we certainly won’t be the last – but there is something about brunch that really jump starts your Sunday Funday experience. Since it’s so hard to put our finger on the ONE thing that makes this precious meal so special I’m breaking down the list of some of my favorite places and why, so we can help you to step up your game in any way you choose.
#1. The Churchill – Clear your schedule and round up the girlfriends! Located right in the heart of Los Angeles, the vibe here is really #everything. You can get a table on the sidewalk patio or upstairs on the lofted second level, where floor to ceiling windows still give you an amazing view. The concrete floors mixed with wooden tables and adorably arranged florals gives you all the rustic, vintage feels you could ever dream of. Keep the champagne flowing with bottomless mimosas and it’s safe to say you and your gal pals are gonna need to call an über home. Side note: definitely also dig this venue for events like bridal showers, reunions or double dates!
#2. Magnolia – Every boy and every girl – Spice Up Your Life. And no, I’m not JUST referring to my fave Spice Girls jam. I am talking about the Build Your Own Bloody Mary Bar. Choose from bacon, 3 different types of cheese, siracha, onion rings, olives, banana peppers – do you need me to keep going? Kick this classic up as many notches as you want and try something different each drink! Who says you can’t play with your food?
#3. Granville – I mean we are in LA here; so for all you health-conscious peeps who want to Sunday Funday without the guilt – this is the spot! There are endless vegan and gluten free options that are hand-crafted from local sources and taste delicious. There’s also some really creative cocktails that are all worth trying if you’re in the mood for something new! The atmosphere is so amazing you may never want to go, but when you do, your belly will definitely leave happy.
#4. Rockwell Table and Stage – Brunch on it’s own is as you know, my favorite pastime, but who doesn’t love a little entertainment to go with your eats? At the Rockwell you can see unauthorized musicals, make requests at the DJ booth and most importantly – you can get your groove on. The bottomless mimosas here come with an assortment of juices; from the traditional orange to mango, grapefruit, pineapple and cranberry (mango + pineapple with a splash of cran will mentally send you right to a beach in Mexico – try it out, thank me later). Check their website for showtimes/upcoming events and make sure you call for a reservation ahead of time!
#5. Saddle Ranch Chop House – OK, this one might throw you for a loop as it’s most likely not what you would expect when you think brunch. BUT let me tell you that if you’re having a rough morning from the evening you had before, and you think some solid grub will be the cure – this is where you need to go. Your meal starts off with baskets of biscuits and jalapeño cornbread just to whet your appetite. Then, the main courses are served on platters, yes, platters – not plates. Don’t think you’re leaving this place without dessert. There is a cotton candy tower served in a ginormous martini glass, or a roast your own s’mores tray where you actually create your own delicious, sandwich treat from scratch using their outdoor fireplace. If you’re not too stuffed, be sure to give the mechanical bull a whirl before you head out!
Next weekend will be here before you know it – start your planning!
