Texture, the “Netflix of Magazines”
Who doesn’t love buying magazines? As far back as we can remember we used to always ask our moms if we could buy a magazine at the checkout of the supermarket. Flipping through the pages of J-14, then Seventeen magazine, then US Weekly, now Glamour and Town & Country. The glossy pages and bright colors. Its not always realistic to bring a stack of magazines with you, nor is it cost-effective. Magazine hoarding is a real thing, friends. In this day and age everyone has some sort of “smart” device- iPhone, iPad, tablet. And were always on the go- by plane, train, ferry, car etc. Texture has quickly become one of our favorite apps!
Before Pinterest and blogs there were magazines. Recipes, style advice, gossip, and home decor inspiration came from the pages of all of our favorite titles, which is where we still get a lot of our
For only $9.99 per month you have access to up to 200 different magazine titles and subscriptions. You get the newest issues right when they come out, and to top that- you even get featured articles before they come out (not like we read the Kim K GQ feature or anything…)! You can access the app on up to 5 devices per account. It’s on our iPads and iPhones – we use it in the morning and afternoon during the ungodly commute on the Red line.
Stuck in a creative rut? There are so many ways to find great content with Texture. We particularly love the search feature. We had tequila and were looking for a quick and easy drink recipe to make, simply type “tequila” in the search box and every single mention of tequila pops up. Boom. Palomas for everyone! Bought a new off the shoulder top and not sure how to style it? Just use the search feature.
You can also customize your preferences so that Texture knows what you’re interested in? For us it’s easy- fashion, food, travel, and home decor. When you open the app, Texture will alert you of any stories that align with your interests.

Inspired by Denim
Kara was inspired by all of the denim popping up for AW2016. Almost all the fashion mags were showing some kind of new denim trends- it almost seems silly, since denim is such a classic staple. If we hadn’t “flipped” through the pages of Glamour and InStyle we would have been stuck in our typical skinnies or destructed boyfriends. Glamour actually dedicated the entire August issue to denim- frayed hems, embellishments, shadow work, cropped flares, and patchwork to name a few. Sometimes the same high fashion you see in magazines, does not translate well to everyday wear. Kara styled a look for less (all for under $100!) using some inspo from the Denim issue.
Did we mention you can shop right from the app? Many of the subscriptions allow you to tap for shopping details, which is perfect for girls on the go.
Disclosure// We received complimentary Texture subscriptions in turn for our opinions on the product in a blog post.
